Team

Our team comprises healthcare professionals from diverse cultural backgrounds with a wealth of experience across all areas of mental health. This enables us to effectively treat patients with a wide range of mental health problems. This experienced multi-disciplinary team consists of consultant psychiatrists, ward doctors, registered nurses, therapists, psychologists, psychotherapists and health care assistants.

Admission & Treatment

We treat a broad range of mental health problems and will consider both planned and emergency admissions. People are encouraged to visit the ward prior to admission and, wherever possible, are offered a preadmission assessment to agree a treatment plan.

On admission, the individual is assessed by the multi-disciplinary team and a comprehensive treatment plan developed which continues to be reviewed throughout the admission. We also run a therapeutic programme of groups and one to one therapy which people are actively encouraged and supported to attend during their stay. Our group programme mainly utilises the Cognitive Behavioural Model which enables people to learn new ways of managing everyday life more effectively.

All care and treatment outcomes are subject to clinical audit and continual review.

Discharge & Aftercare

Discharge and after care plans are drawn up collaboratively by the individual, their carer(s), consultant psychiatrist, therapist and nurse and the process starts on admission. The discharge plan includes a risk assessment, follow up care and contingency plans for dealing with a crisis.

Referrals

The inpatient unit at Cygnet Hospital Godden Green operates in an open ward setting, and is appropriate for individuals who are not a risk to themselves or others. We therefore welcome admissions on a private or voluntary basis from GP's, families, carers and other health care professionals. Upon referral, we will consider planned and emergency admissions dependant on level of risk. The unit accepts patients informally and those detained under the Mental Health Act (2007).
