At Cygnet Hospital Godden Green we believe addictions can be effectively treated using a combination of CBT and 12-step approaches under the supervision of one of our Consultant Psychiatrists. Individuals are encouraged to attend the full scope of our CBT-based Group Therapy programme. View an example of our addictions therapy timetable.
We aim to address the psychological dependence that often coincides with an addiction, albeit in causing or resulting from the addictive behaviour. For example, psychological health risks associated with excessive alcohol use include anxiety and depression, panic attacks, aggression, paranoia, jealousy, sexual problems etc. All of these areas can be addressed during our CBT-based groups.
Treatment schedules vary but are based upon a combination of individual and group therapy under the supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist. Our flexible approach means individuals can attend individual group sessions, half or full days from one to five days per week which allows hospital-based treatment with the least possible interruption to individuals' work, home and family life.
The service can also be used as a stepping stone between Inpatient and Outpatient care.
Specialist groups for our addictions patients are also held which provide an introduction to the 12-step process and individuals are expected to attend the 12-step meetings that are regularly held at the hospital by AA, NA and CA. The aim of this is to introduce individuals to ongoing support for when they are discharged from our care.
Ongoing support can also be accessed in the form of our regular Aftercare groups which take place on a weekly basis for those who have previously attended our day or inpatient therapy programme.
All Aftercare services are free and unlimited to all former inpatients and day patients.
